The spectacle in the wilderness
John is baptizing Jews and calling them to repentance
  • “Who is this guy?”
    •  The Messiah? NO!
    • Elijah? “No?” – But Jesus said he was (Matthew 11:11-15, 17:10-13)
      • The clothing of Elijah (Matthew 3:4-6)(2 Kings 1:8)
      • Elijah would come to prepare for the Messiah (Malachi 3:1, 4:5-6)
      • A Prophet? “No?” Jesus said he was (Luke 16:16)(Deuteronomy 18:15-18)
  • So “Who?”
    • A Voice – (Isaiah 40:3-5)
      • I am getting you ready to meet the Lamb

Sub Point 1: We all need to respond to the voice calling us to the Lamb

  • When we meet the Lamb, he gives us His baptism, The Holy Spirit
